Battles of Chernobyl
\\ EDITORIAL DESIGN
Written for the magazine Aftermath, The Battles of Chernobyl is an editorial piece that explores the ramifications of the event of April 26, 1986, in the Ukrainian city. Using photographs of the aftermath of the disaster, the article brings the reader to the area of the event.
The photographs are mostly grayscale with a subtle touch of colour in certain spots, symbolizing the contrast between the past and present. Likewise, a magenta colour was used as an accent connecting the design elements throughout the article. Elegant and modern fonts were implemented in the body copy to reference to the seriousness of the event while keeping a modern appearance. The page backgrounds were given a consistent texture that conveys a distressed and aged look, representative of the pollution found in the zone of the disaster.
